ZHIK Australian 49er National Championships (Day 3)

Day 3 of the Nationals saw Nathan Outteridge and Iain Jensen firm up their lead with three firsts from three races, with New Zealand’s Peter Buling and Blair Tuke ten points behind the lead. The kiwis broke a mainsheet in race 2, nevertheless managing to finish the race in eleventh place. Victoria’s Will and Sam Phillips maintain their third placing on 44 points, closely followed by Ireland’s Ryan Seaton and Matt McGovern on 45 points.

Race 3 was started in freshening conditions which continued to build, eventually forcing a postponement for race 4. Buling and Tuke tested their pace after racing finished and recorded 22.5K, the fastest recorded time for a 49er with the new design main.
